Coordinated by the University Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and jointly organized with the University Jean Monnet of Saint-Etienne, two universities of Barcelona (Universitat Aut¨°noma de Barcelona, Universitat de Barcelona) and the University of Antwerp (Universiteit Antwerpen), the Master LIVE trains international vaccinologists in two years and in English. By integrating their complementary experience and expertise into the management of the program, the five main institutions have built and are working with the LIVE consortium, which includes 63 associated partners from 22 countries, involved along the vaccinology working chain.
EMJMD Label: recognition of the strengths of the Master LIVE
Following international evaluation, the EMJMD label qualifies a prestigious, integrated, international study programme, jointly delivered by an international consortium of higher education institutions. For this labelling, the EACEA noted the increasing needs for well-trained professionals in the field of vaccinology, especially since the emerging field of cancer immunotherapy requires such expertise and resistance of bacterial strains to antibiotics is on the rise. EACEA appreciates:
? the optimal mobility of students who move as a single cohort from Spain to Belgium and then France, instilling cohesion and confidence, before gaining their independence when separated for internships, worldwide,
? the competitiveness of the LIVE program, which presents a long list of well-recognized experts in the field from around the world, who are committed stakeholders in the applicant selection,
? conferences and discussions with the students;
? innovative teaching approaches, reinforced by increased attention paid to digital ICT and intellectual property training;
? a valuable experience in appropriate transferable skills, including the management of real international projects during the training: organization of symposium, workshop, creation of MOOC, etc.
The EACEA concluded that this international Master has many exceptional features to increase the attractiveness, excellence, innovation and competitiveness of the European education system, which led to the classification of the Master LIVE in the pole position of the EMJMD labels, awarded in 2018 (score: 92/100 points). To welcome the four intakes 2019 to 2022, EACEA allocated 3.93 M€ (grant nb 2018-1484) to the Master LIVE. This success should soon make it possible to meet the challenge of creating the first international joint Master¡¯s degree from the University of Lyon.
